In Italy, the village festival is called a sagra, and it is the Pro Loco that organises it. These local associations, present in virtually every Italian municipality since the mid-20th century, are the true engines of popular cultural life: they set up food stalls, decorate the streets, and above all — they book musicians. Live music is an almost systematic feature of every sagra: dance orchestras, cover bands, pop-variety singers, DJs, traditional music groups and even brass bands.
This pack brings together 506 verified Italian Pro Loco associations, active across the entire national territory — from Piedmont to Calabria, from Veneto to Sicily. These associations organise gastronomic sagre (sagra della porchetta, della pizza, del fungo…), patron saint celebrations, medieval fairs, summer nights and popular festivals. Their calendar is highly concentrated: 90% of sagre take place between May and September, with an intense peak in July and August.
The distinctive feature of Pro Loco associations is their way of operating: they are passionate volunteers, often the same people year after year, who make decisions quickly and without an artistic committee. A warm email, a convincing video and availability on the right dates are often enough to secure a booking.
Italian sagre and village festivals welcome a popular, intergenerational audience that loves festive and accessible music. This pack is particularly suited to:
A basic knowledge of Italian is an asset but not essential: Pro Loco organisers are often enthusiastic about booking a "foreign" artist who brings something different.
Manually sourcing Pro Loco contacts is a real headache: their details are scattered across municipal websites, local Facebook pages and often outdated Italian regional directories. LiveContact has done this collection and verification work for you:
If you would like to delegate the writing and sending of emails, our direct outreach service handles the campaign from A to Z, with messages tailored to the informal and warm tone of Italian associations.
Pro Loco associations often plan their summer programme in March–April for May–June events, and in May–June for July–August. Sending your application in February–March is the best time to be present during decision-making. Avoid autumn and winter for summer sagre — you would arrive too early and your message would be forgotten.

The vast majority of Pro Loco associations included in this pack are known to feature live music at their sagre. That said, some associations may have reduced their activity or may not systematically engage professional artists. We select active Pro Loco with verified emails, but the decision to programme music belongs to each individual association.
Communicating in Italian is strongly recommended — Pro Loco volunteers are often not comfortable in English or French. A simple, warm email in Italian will be much better received. If you do not speak Italian, our direct outreach service can write the messages on your behalf.
Fees paid by Pro Loco vary depending on the size of the association and the artist's profile. For a group or artist who is not well known in Italy, expect roughly €300 to €800 per evening. To make the trip worthwhile, it is advisable to chain several dates in the same region (for example: Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio in one week).
Pro Loco associations are officially registered organisations. They operate on a voluntary basis but their financial commitments are generally honoured. It is advisable to confirm the engagement in writing (email or simple contract) and to agree on the payment method in advance. Many pay in cash on the evening itself, others by bank transfer.
The vast majority of sagre and festivals organised by Pro Loco take place between May and September. A few Pro Loco organise autumn events (chestnut festivals, Christmas markets), but this pack is primarily designed to help you prepare your summer tour of Italy.
