This pack brings together theatres programming live performance outside France and Italy — two countries LiveContact already covers separately. It is aimed at companies and artists looking to move beyond their home market: touring abroad, finding a co-production partner, answering a European open call.
The country breakdown reflects what each country publishes rather than the size of its national stages: in the UK, Ireland and Germany many theatres only display a box office address, which we never deliver — a box office sells seats, it does not programme.
The file favours established venues that can be identified with certainty: national and state theatres, major municipal venues, recognised repertory theatres. It is not an exhaustive census of every hall in Europe — it is a selection of places that genuinely programme a season and receive proposals.
Each theatre was identified individually, then its email address read directly on its official website (contact page, legal notice or Impressum). No address was inferred from a domain name. Theatres whose email was not published in plain text were simply left out rather than listed with a guessed address — which is why the file is compact rather than padded.
No, deliberately. French and Italian theatres are already covered elsewhere in the catalogue (notably the Teatri d'Italia pack). This pack exists to expand beyond those two markets without making you pay again for what you may already have.
These are the ten countries processed so far, with each address individually verified on the theatre's own official website. Further countries may be added in a future update — they will be announced once collected, never before.
The address provided is the official contact published by the theatre (front desk, box office or administration depending on the venue). It is up to you to be redirected to artistic direction or programming once first contact is made — that is how theatre outreach normally works.
Seasons are usually built 12 to 18 months ahead, often locked by spring for the following season. Aim for the preceding autumn and winter. One-off festivals and special events sometimes leave shorter windows.
Each address was read on the theatre's official website, then technically checked (syntax, active mail server on the domain). An address whose domain turned out to be inactive was removed from the file rather than delivered.
